Mosmans Restaurant and lunchtime delight!

What a delight it was to head for lunch to Mosmans restaurant in Mosman Park.  It was a sunny day and the weather was just perfect to enjoy the ambience, location, food and service in this top quality restaurant.  From the moment we walked in the door and were warmly welcomed until we left after a couple of hours of gorgeous food and wine the complete experience was a memorable one!

The lunch menu offered some fantastic seafood options and other delights for those not really wanting to indulge in seafood, but really why head there if you are not going to taste some of our wonderful local seafood!  I am a sucker for a seafood platter and especially one that is not just filled with deep-fried seafood but one that lets the tastes and richness of the seafood come through and this seafood platter offered that and more!

As it was lunch we did not need entrées and just opted to have some home-baked fresh baguette that was served with butter and an amazing grilled black salt and pepper mixture that added an amazing taste to it!  The seafood platter (well seafood tower really) was then duly served after a nice chance to enjoy a glass of Italian Prosecco and to select a bottle of  Franz Haas Italian Pinot Grigio to have with the seafood, which was an inspired choice as it was the perfect accompaniment for the seafood that was served.

The seafood platter, dipping sauces and some yummy hand cut chips!

The seafood consisted of a grilled Moretan bay bug, freshly shucked natural oysters, smoked salmon, grilled king prawns, char grilled cuttlefish and 2 delightful pieces of grilled fresh fish.  The dish was meant to also have scallops with it but the kitchen had not been able to get any that they liked that day and so they included a dish filled with delight fresh king prawns for us to indulge in to make up for the lack of scallops.

Each aspect of the seafood was just delightful – there were lemon wedges, home-made mayonnaise, a spicy relish, hand cut chips and a garden salad to compliment the seafood and to add to the overall delight!  The cuttlefish was bbq’d to perfection and the grilled fresh fish and grilled king prawns were mouth-watering and tasty.  The Moretan bay bug was grilled and fleshy and the natural oysters were salty and fresh.  Add to that the wonderful fresh king prawns and the smoked salmon and this seafood platter was a real lunchtime treat.  We did not need dessert or coffee as we had more than enough with the seafood on offer and were satisfied with our lot!

Million dollar views from the table!

Perfectly themed artwork adds to the ambience!

I should also mention the staff at Mosmans  who were welcoming, friendly, professional, not intrusive and attentive enough to complete the package for a great lunch.  The music was muted enough to allow for good conversation and the tables spread out enough so that you could have your own conversations without worrying about anyone else.  This is a perfect place for a restaurant, the views onto the river are just gorgeous and it is a wonder that there are not more like it perched on the water in the area – or maybe not because for the area that it is situated in it is the perfect place and has the market cornered.

I would highly recommend a lunchtime visit to Mosmans as it really was a delight from start to finish.

Trevor after lunch, happy and satisfied with a great meal and great service!
