And so we begin 2015, well we are already 8 days into the new year, and the sun is shinning outside (well it is here in Perth) and my mind wanders to what the coming year will bring?
It always intrigues me that at this time of year once the festive season has passed and the working year begins in earnest, all of that build up and chaos quickly slips from our minds as we once again get caught up in the day to day tasks that we go about in our daily lives.
I know that I easily fall back into the patterns for work and life and sometimes need to remind myself to take some time to just stop and give myself the chance to breathe and relax and not just get on the fast never ending cycle of work, gym, home, repeat…
It is so easy to get lost in this and not take the time for some reflection. I like to sit and meditate and ruminate and think about what is coming up, how I can be a better, more considerate person and to look at the impact that those around me have on my live.
Each and every person that comes into my life does so for a reason – to teach me more about myself, to allow me to accept them into my journey, even if it is for a short period of time or not; and to make me a better person. This journey is a complex one that is filled with challenges, but if you embrace and encourage those who surround you then the journey can be an easier one.
Sometimes I forget that the people around me can offer their wisdom, support and love to me. Sharing these things together enriches each of our lives. I am blessed each day and embrace the diversity of opinions, views, words of wisdom and thoughts of the people who are in my life and try to learn from them.
It is also important to stop and look at the beauty and delight around you and see wonderful things in the situations that you find yourself in. Sometimes life can be hard and challenging but I believe it is really important to try and remain positive and focussed on all the good things in every situation. One of the important life lessons for me in the past year has been to look for good things in every situation and even though it can be hard to do it is what has gotten me through some dark times.
It is a new year and it is a time to look back at the past year but it is important to look forward to all of the wonderful and amazing things that this new year holds in store for each of us. Lets all celebrate by sharing the love, the happiness, the joy and the wonder and by remembering to be good to ourselves and those who come into our lives each day. It does not take too much to smile, give someone a hug or to give some encouragement or support. Lets take a little more time caring for each other in 2015!
