It has been going for 18 years now and is the only fashion fundraising event in Perth that showcases the new spring/summer collections of a range of the best designers and retailers. In association for a second year with naming rights sponsor Curtin University, STYLEAID has become the must attend fashion event on the Perth social calendar.
There is no other event in Perth that even comes close to this type of runway parade and allows the first showing of the new collections before anyone else in Perth gets to see them.
STYLEAID evolved from an idea that started in the US and then moved to Melbourne and then 18 years ago arrived in Perth as a fundraiser for the WA AIDS Council. Since it started STYLEAID has raised over $1.25 million for the work of the council and this year raises the bar yet again with another amazing event.
I have to admit to a vested interest in the event, I have been involved in STYLEAID since the very first year and in one role or another over that time including as co-host with Ali Bodycoat 5 years ago.
The images that I have included in this post are the most amazing dresses that have been painted on by a series of very talented designers, make up artist and artists who have all contributed to what is know as the “Dolly Project”.
Each of these dresses is a one off artistic piece created by Pip McManus, Kelsey Ashe, Sheree Dornan, Nico Green, Brendan Darby and Hendra Widjaja. They all bring their own unique styles to the dresses and each one is now up for auction on the STYLEAID website…you can check them out at http://www.styleaid.com.au and make a bid to try and secure an amazing piece of individual artwork.
STYLEAID this year will show the spring/summer collections from Aurelio Costarella, Ae’lkemi, One Fell Swoop, Zhivago, Yuuki, Wolfgang & Sons, Salasai, Monster Alphabets, Kinn and retailers Atlas Divine, Varga Girl, Nells, Dilettante and Rhodes and Beckett.
Joining them will be the ZOMP Creative Designer Award winner for 2015 – I Love Mr Mittens. This creative and delightful knitwear is inspiring and will be stunning on the runway this year.
Tickets are now on sale and if you are in Perth and you are keen go to the STYLEAID website – http://www.styleaid.com.au and fill out a ticket form and get ready to be part of one of the most amazing fashion events of the year!
